UAE Interior Ministry, Emirates Transport sign deal

UAE’s Ministry of Interior has signed a partnership and co-operation agreement with Emirates Transport for the provision of technical examination services for heavy and medium vehicles and equipment.
The deal aims at providing examination services to medium and heavy vehicles and equipment, and verifying their suitability to run on the public roads of the UAE.
It aims to have this service reach the beneficiaries easily, conveniently and regularly, raise the level of technical examination of heavy vehicles, co-operate in the field of technical examination and evaluate how suitable the examined vehicle is in order to run safely and securely on public roads.
The deal is to be done in accordance with the terms and conditions stipulated in the Federal Traffic Law no. (21) for the year 1995 and its executive rule no (31) for the year 1997. The technical examination will include the suitability of the vehicle from all technical aspects to run on public roads; and the suitability of heavy vehicles in terms of safety and security requirements set by the vehicles and drivers’ licensing departments, the civil defense departments in the country, and by the Standardization and Metrology Authority.
The examination will also include checking the level of emissions from the exhaust and examining the vehicle’s environmental footprint.
Lt General Saif Abdullah Al Sha’far, undersecretary at the Ministry of Interior, said that this agreement is an implementation of the instructions from Lt General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior to enhance partnerships with federal and local institutions and authorities in order to achieve our common goals and beliefs in joint work.
He stressed the keenness of the ministry on implementing the instructions of the higher leadership in their quest towards building a more integrative and co-operative exchange of expertise and experience among the federal and local institutions and authorities.
These exchanges will boost the developmental efforts and overall goal of achieving safety, security and public well-being in addition to providing the best levels of advanced services through partnerships with the relevant authorities to serve the country, he said.
Mohammed Abdullah Al Jarman, general manager of Emirates Transport, noted that the agreement will enhance the strategic partnerships, relationships, and integration between the Emirates Transport and the ministry in a way that fulfills the guidance of the government.
The agreement also achieves effective co-operation between the different institutions and launches joint initiatives to support and enhance the efforts for implementing the national agenda and achieving the UAE Vision 2020, he added. - TradeArabia News Service
