AMA Motors nets $1.3m deal at industry fair

Manama, February 7, 2014

AMA Motors, a division of the Ahmed Mansoor Al Aali (AMA Group), has garnered business worth more than BD500,000 ($1.3 million) at the Gulf Industry Fair this year, a top company official revealed.

"The GIF this year has been very successful for us," AMA Motors general manager Simon Keen told the Gulf Daily News, our sister publication.

"We have confirmation of a order of six MAN trucks and we have a total order bank from the show of BD500,000. So it has been a very good three days," he added.

At the show, the company also launched a new idea for Bahrain - a mobile service unit.

"The idea is that if your equipment or your truck needs service, instead of coming to us, we bring the service to you," Mr Keen said.

"The mobile unit is fully kitted with oil drum etc - everything you need for standard service," Mr Keen said.

"This is particularly useful for bulky things like diggers and excavators."

The company said during the fair it sold two of the mobile service units to customers who were looking to provide the service to their fleet of cars.

According to him, the Gulf Industry Fair has become a key platform for the company to be able "to display goods to the market and generate better brand and product visibility.

"Last two times that we participated, we had displays outside and this time we made a conscious decision to be inside the hall," he added.

"What we found impressive about the show is that it is done very professionally in line with similar shows in Europe.

"The organisers are very accommodating which makes it easier and there's no red tape."

AMA Motors has 11 franchises dealing in construction equipment.

"Our MAN truck sales in Bahrain have gone up from eight sold to Bapco in 2011 to 121 in 2012 and 132 last year.

"Already this year, we are topping at 20 trucks... so things are going very well," he said.

AMA supplies to all major companies across the board, from Bapco to DHL as well as all the fire and emergency equipment at the Bahrain International Airport. "We will be supplying two new fire tenders to the airport," stated Keen.

The company has confirmed its participation at the show next year too.-TradeArabia News Service
