Chevrolet builds its 1,500,000th Corvette
Dubai, June 16, 2009
The Chevrolet Corvette, one of the top icons of the American automobile, has hit another milestone -- 1.5 million units built.
Chevrolet product marketing director Karen Rafferty announced the recent production of the 1,500,000th Corvette at GM’s Bowling Green assembly in the state of Kentucky. The announcement came at the recent June meeting of the Greater Atlanta Automotive Media Association.
It took the Corvette 24 years to reach the 500,000th mark in 1977, then 15 years until the millionth was built in 1992, and then 17 years to this milestone.
With a big engine, masses of power and torque and a body shape to optimise its blistering thrust, the Corvette has been practicing exactly what it preaches in the Middle East.
Chevrolet’s top of the range sports car in its three guises of Corvette, Z06 and ZR1, has sped from one success to the other and after the launch of the 638 hp ZR1, continues to set sky-high performance car benchmarks. – TradeArabia News Service
