A’Saffa Foods wins top honour at AIWA Awards

MUSCAT, September 16, 2018

A’Saffa Foods, a top poultry project in Oman, has won the “mid-cap” category, at the 8th AIWA Awards for Best Performing Companies, at an awards evening held at Hotel Sheraton, by Alam Al-Iktissad Wal-Amal (AIWA) magazine.

The AIWA Awards felicitate the top performing listed companies in Oman during the last financial year and are attended by senior leaders from the government and business sector in Oman.

Sixty-five companies from banking, finance, insurance, manufacturing, telecom, power and water, oil and gas, logistics, contracting, education and training, fisheries and; food and beverages sectors were shortlisted for the awards this year; with 15 Top Ranking Companies receiving the coveted trophy across three categories.

This year’s winners too were named following an annual survey of entrants, conducted in cooperation with Gulf Baader Capital Markets and audited by KPMG. The survey is based on seven key financial metrics.

A’Saffa Foods’ Board of Directors have approved an expansion plan to raise chicken meat production capacity by 100 per cent and continue in their endeavour to foster and support food security, self-sufficiency and increased employment opportunities in the Sultanate. The total capital expenditure outlay of the expansion is RO45 million ($117 million).

A’Saffa Foods is accredited and certified by the international certifying body TUV and has been given the ISO 9001:2008 - Total Quality Management System, ISO 14001:2004 - Environmental Management System and HACCP - for Food Quality and Hygiene Proud; and is a winner of the international Cobb Champion Award for breeder performance.
