L’Oréal India offers scholarships for science students

MUMBAI, June 6, 2017

L’Oréal India invites women students who have completed class XII in India to apply for the 14th edition of its ‘For Young Women in Science Scholarship (FYWIS) Programme’.

As a part of the programme, L’Oréal India will award scholarships worth Rs. 250,000 ($3,883.6) each to 50 promising but economically disadvantaged young women to help them complete their graduation in any scientific field from a recognised college/university in India.
 
"L'Oréal strongly believes that science is the source of progress, and the contribution of women is vital to its future." said Jean-Christophe Letellier, managing director, L’Oréal India. “For the 14th year, we are proud to remain dedicated to supporting talented women to pursue their aspirations in the field of science.”
 
Instituted in 2003, The L’Oréal India ‘For Young Women in Science’ Scholarship Programme is an extension of the international L’Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science partnership and has enabled more than 300 young women till date to pursue a career in science. Last year alone, the Programme received more than 3000 entries.
 
Eligibility criteria: Young women who have passed class XII exams from across India in the current academic year (ended March 2017), with a minimum of 85 per cent in PCM/PCB and not over 19 years of age as on 31/05/2017, are eligible to apply for this scholarship.
 
This scholarship is open for study in any field of science: medicine, engineering, information technology, pharmacy, biotechnology, and other graduate courses pertaining to science (B.Sc). Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed by an eminent jury of scientists and academicians. Scholarships will be presented only upon securing admission.
