Bahrain joins convention amid ‘Iran exploitation’ concerns

Concerns that Iran could try to use an international search and rescue agreement to invade Bahrain’s airspace have failed to halt its ratification. Parliament yesterday (November 10) approved government plans to join the 1979 International Convention on Maritime Search and Rescue, despite MP Ali Bu Farsan suggesting Tehran could seek to exploit it, said a report in the Gulf Daily News (GDN), our sister publication.
