UAE airport staff held for stealing Rolex watch

DUBAI, September 19, 2015

An airport employee is on trial for stealing a Rolex watch, which a passenger left by accident in the X-ray machine.

According to 7days, Dubai Court of First Instance was told that the 26-year-old Filipina pocketed the expensive Rolex after finding it on the airport security scanner.

Reportedly, a passenger forgot his watch in the X-ray machine. Later, airport security and Dubai police found out from the CCTV footage that the accused picked up the watch and put it in her pocket.

“I asked my female workmate to search the woman and she found the Rolex in her right pocket and wrapped it with tissues,” a 25-year-old Emirati policeman testified.

The Filipina claimed that she was on duty at 8am, arranging the X-ray boxes for passengers to put their belongings in when she found the watch, the report added.

The accused claimed that she asked nearby passengers about the watch, but nobody replied.
