Bahraini man on pilgrimage in Makkah goes missing

MANAMA, July 25, 2015

Saudi Arabian police are searching for a Bahraini man who was reported missing in Makkah.

Sadiq Jaffer Ahmed, a 20-year-old special needs citizen, was last seen on Thursday (July 23) at Masjid Al Haram by his mother, who was performing morning prayers, said a report in the Gulf Daily News (GDN), our sister publication.

Bahrain’s Consul-General in Jeddah Ibrahim Mohammed Al Meslimani told the GDN police officers have been out in force searching for Ahmed, who was in Makkah for a pilgrimage trip with his mother.

“The consulate is collaborating with Saudi authorities to search for Sadiq,” he said.

“All Makkah hospitals have so far been checked and thank god his name is not listed among patients who entered the hospital.

“We were relieved when we came to know that and also after checking that his name is not among the dead.

“Police are out in force now searching for him and I expect them to find him soon.”

The Bahrain Consulate in Jeddah yesterday posted on its Twitter account that a team has been formed to take necessary procedures to search for Ahmed, in collaboration with security authorities in Makkah. - TradeArabia News Service
