Tawazun honoured for humanitarian work

DUBAI, July 7, 2015

Tawazun , an established industrial investor, was recognised by Watani Al Emarat for its humanitarian work in the category of ‘Basmat Elm’ or ‘Education footprint’ for this year.

The prize was launched to mark the humanitarian work day commemorating the founding father of the nation, late Shaikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, said a statement.

The award was received by Saif Al Hajeri, chief executive officer at a ceremony held by Watani Emarat Foundation in Intercontinental Festival City hotel in recognition of Tawazun work in serving society, creating jobs in the manufacturing sector and encouraging the youth to pursue their education in the field of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM).   

The manufacturing sector has been evolving rapidly in the country in the last decade and therefore, it requires human capital in technical disciplines in order to ensure sustainability of the sector, said Al Hajeri.

Encouraging young Emarati to study science field is very important and Tawazun is doing its part to influence future candidates to pursue their education in STEM. It is about aligning the industry needs and requirements with the educational output. Partnership between industry and academia is essential to create synergy between workforce supply and demand, he said.

Dr Yehya Al Marzouqi, executive director - project management office in Tawazun, who also attended the ceremony, said: “Receiving such award will undoubtedly increase our commitment and dedication to the cause and we will continue to further strengthen our partnership with academia and other government entities in order to attract the young Emirati to field of science. “

The award, which was launched by Watani Al Emarat Foundation in 2013, is intended to honour and recognise prominent individuals, organisation and institutions who play a key role in humanitarian and charity work.

The award covered 10 ‘humanitarian stamps’ in various fields as well as supporting the engagement of individuals and companies in humanitarian services. - TradeArabia News Service
