ABU DHABI, June 16, 2015

The Department of Community Police at Abu Dhabi Police will be distributing 30,000 Iftar meals to customers who interact with the sections of police that are open all hours of the day.

The department will additionally hand out Iftar meals to drivers who are on the road at the time of Iftar during the holy month of Ramadan, said a statement.

Such steps come as a part of the Iftar Meals initiative and are in collaboration with the Abdul Jalil Al Fahim & Family Endowment, it said.

Colonel Mubarak Awadh Mubarak bin Muhairom Al Ameri, director general of Community Protection and Crime Prevention at the General Secretariat of the Office of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, said: “This initiative comes in response to the directives of the police leadership to foster partnerships with every community segment.”

He also noted that in addition to distributing meals to the customers at the police departments and to the members of the public and motorists who are on the road during the Maghrib call to prayer; the department will also distribute meals throughout the land border ports of Abu Dhabi.

Isa bin Abdul Jalil Al Fahim, secretary general of the Abdul Jalil Al Fahim & Family Endowment, noted that the initiative kicked off in 2007 and still continues to this day.

“This initiative reflects the cultural values that late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan has instilled within us - may God rest his soul,” he said.

He also explained that the endowment is coordinating with the Abu Dhabi Police in line with the collaborative partnership based on the principles of benevolence and giving back to the country that provides all means necessary for its people to live a decent life. - TradeArabia News Service
