ABU DHABI, June 12, 2015
Abu Dhabi’s Department of Finance showcased its new customs inspection app for tablets, which will soon be implemented by the General Administration of Customs - Abu Dhabi at the recently concluded 2015 Smart Government Exhibition.
It also showcased the latest developments for its Customs Operations System (Dhabi), Abu Dhabi Government ERP System (ADERP) and military retirement system, said a statement.
Hamad Al Hurr Al Suwaidi, chairman of DoF-Abu Dhabi, said: “DoF plays a significant role in supporting the sustainable development of the emirate’s economy and promoting its prosperity. The department continuously strives to implement the best IT practices across all services and is committed to supporting the UAE’s smart government transition, which will have a positive impact on the governments’ strategic and operational performance in the future.
“Over the past few years, DoF has enhanced the quality of the financial and customs services offered to government parties, private institutions and individuals. Our team is developing a number of systems, apps and IT solutions to sustain this level of quality and enhance convenience for customers.
“I commend the efforts of our team, who have played an instrumental role in enhancing the effectiveness of the Department’s operations and helping DoF to achieve its strategic objectives.”
Mohammed Khadem Al Hameli, acting director-general of the General Administration of Customs-Abu Dhabi, said: “The General Administration of Customs – Abu Dhabi is establishing new customs service channels to achieve sustainable economic development in the emirate. We are achieving this through enhancing customs services, facilitating the movement of foreign trade via various border crossings as well as collecting customs revenue according to the highest standards of integrity, creativity and excellence to improve performance and raise the level of services offered to customers.”
The ‘Dhabi Mobile Inspection Service’, for tablets with fingerprint scanner, speeds up inspection processes and procedures by registering vehicle details at border crossings.
The app also facilitates fee collections via mobile phones through taking photos of the shipment, products, vehicles, travellers and seized substances to immediately investigate it.
It supports the Customs Operations System (Dhabi), a fully-integrated platform which issues alerts about all incoming shipments through various Abu Dhabi ports (land, sea and air).
The Abu Dhabi Shared Enterprise Resource Planning (ADERP) system links all government entities in the emirate through a unified electronic platform.
ADERP has been designed to help entities manage government resources, establish an integrated financial system, develop a unified financial framework for the preparation and implementation of the general budget, as well as prepare reports and consolidated financial statements. It also integrates other subsystems such as salaries, purchases, expenditures and government assets.
The system has minimised the time required to carry out procedures by up to 85% through the implementation of e-transactions and the issuance of smart reports.
ADERP also allows users to review proposed budgets and the approved budget, as well as prepare and submit purchase orders, register suppliers, issue tenders receive material from suppliers and check invoices, e- payments and e- bank statements.
The ‘Military Retirement System’ offers leading electronic services which allow military retirees and their beneficiaries to review monthly pension details, request electronic salary certificates and benefit from fast payment services.
The system also offers a direct respond service which provides clear and quick answers to all military retirees’ enquiries. - TradeArabia News Service
