Cairo-based Wadi Food, a leading provider of natural and healthy food products, was recently awarded five gourmet certificates for its superior olive oils at two global events in Paris, France and New York, USA.

At the AVPA competition, Wadi Food was recognized for two types of olive oil; the Shemalali extra virgin olive oil and Arbequeeni olive oil, which were awarded the “Gourmet de Bronze” and “Diplôme Produit Gourmet” in the medium ripe fruity oil and the medium green fruity (MGF) categories, respectively. This recognition marks the second AVPA award for Wadi Food oils in three years, following receipt of the respected AVPA gourmet certificate in 2013.
At NYIOOC, Wadi Food won accolades for two other types of olive oil: the Picual Olive Oil, which took the Silver Award in the Delicate Picual Category, and the Coratina Olive Oil, which was awarded the Best in Class Certificate for the Coratina Variety with medium density, making it the best product of its kind worldwide.
Moreover, the BIOpress Competition in Germany ranked Wadi Food’s coratina and picual mix in 12th place amongst 82 oils, making the product part of the top 25 olive oils in the world.
The AVPA award featured entries from 50 countries while the NYIOOC featured nearly 700 olive oils from 25. The oils in both competitions were rated by a group of international olive oil experts, as well as amateur testers and esteemed judges and renowned chefs who rated each oil’s fruitiness, pungency and bitterness while noting any defects that are not allowed in extra virgin olive oil.
“The recognition our oil types receive is a true testament to our mission that began nearly three decades ago; producing only the best olive oils to supply the world with pure, healthy and delicious food,” said Khalil Nasrallah, Wadi Food’s executive manager.
“As a top Egyptian olive oil producer that adheres to international best practices in olive growing and oil manufacturing, Wadi Food will continue to raise the profile of Egyptian agribusiness on an international stage by showcasing the best produce Egypt has to offer.”
