Bahrain eGov forum names international speakers

MANAMA, March 3, 2015

The Bahrain International eGovernment Forum 2015 organising committee has announced the names of internationally renowned keynote speakers who will take part in this year's forum.

Organised under the patronage of Deputy Prime Minister and Supreme Committee for Information and Communication Technology chairman Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, the eighth edition of the event will be held from March 15 to 19 at the Isa Cultural Centre and Bahrain International Circuit, said a report in the Gulf Daily News (GDN), our sister publication.

The event features representatives from leading countries in eGovernment as well as information and communication technology, along with an elite number of managers, academics, private sector and professional experts from every continent.

The European Union and the National Association of Software and Services Companies will take part for the first time this year.

At the two-day forum sessions, John F Reinfeldt '“ former Swedish prime minister from 2006 until 2014 - will be the keynote speaker.

Another key speaker on innovation is Teresa H Carlson, who is the vice-president of Worldwide Public Sector Amazon Web Services - responsible for the strategy, operations, sales and business development for Amazon's cloud computing business.

Tom Loosemore, a founder and current deputy director of UK's Government Digital Service, will deliver a keynote speech.

Eric Smith, an executive partner in Gartner will provide great insights on eGovernment by sharing more than 30 years of IT management experience with participants, covering different industries.

In addition, Dr John Carlo Bertot, professor and co-director of the Information Policy and Access Centre as well as the director of MLS Programme at the University of Maryland College Park, will share his insights during a session entitled 'Information Policies Expansion Associated with Smart Cities Implementations'.

The list of speakers also includes Claude Rocheto, Professor at Aix Marseille University and head of Research Laboratory in Competitive Intelligence at the Ministry of Economy and Finance in Paris.

Among key participants of the forum's sessions is David Burrows, managing director at EMEA Government of Worldwide Public Sector division at Microsoft Corporation.

Likewise, innovation strategist and expert Hala Hemayssi will present a session entitled 'Design as a Transformational Tool for Digital Civilisation - a Method for Teams, Companies and Countries to Grow'.

The forum is organised in co-ordination with Bahrain Society of Engineers, Project Management Institute '“ Arabian Gulf Chapter, as well as YouthTech Society.

After the opening ceremony, specialised morning sessions will commence to continue on the next day.

On the third day, eight workshops will commence, featuring more than 30 global speakers.

The workshops, carefully designed in collaboration with a group of international organisations, will run concurrently with the Bahrain IT Expo 2015 at Bahrain International Circuit. - TradeArabia News Service
