DSO fire drill... gauging preparedness

Dubai Silicon Oasis measures emergency response

DUBAI, December 24, 2014

Dubai Silicon Oasis (DSO), an integrated free zone technology park, organised for the fifth consecutive year, two fire drills in collaboration with Dubai Civil Defence, Dubai Police and the Dubai Ambulance.

The exercise was conducted for the Light Industrial Units phase 1 and the High Bay Building on two separate dates to test the efficiency of the existing fire evacuation plans and assess the preparedness and response time of the safety and security teams in emergency situations. A simulated fire incident scenario was enacted with fire trucks and ambulances to support the evacuation process and make the drill a realistic experience.

Khalil Odeh Shalan, vice president Operations & Facilities at Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority (DSOA), said: “Since 2010, we have been organizing annual safety trainings and fire drills for employees, business partners and the community at Silicon Oasis. This allows us to spread awareness and ensure preparedness of the community to respond quickly in emergency situations.”

“We believe such fire drills are crucial for highlighting the importance of following emergency plans and adhering to safety and security measures. Fire drills give us a chance to measure the efficiency of emergency plans in place, as well as providing an opportunity to improve on them for the greater benefit of DSO’s staff, partners and residents,” he added. – TradeArabia News Service
