Online food delivery firm sees growth in Bahrain

Talabat.com, a leading online food delivery service provider across the GCC region, has identified Bahrain as a key growth market.

It is seeking to increase users and the number of partner restaurants with a targeted strategy for the country, said a report in the Gulf Daily News (GDN), our sister publication.

This comes after the company received global accolade for its mobile business and commerce platform and was presented with the World Summit Award Mobile content (WSA-Mobile content).

The UN-funded award recognises Talabat.com for its mobile content and creativity.

Having commenced its operations in 2012 in Bahrain which is a primary growth market for Talabat.com.

With 1,200 different restaurants on its portal and applications to date, Talabat.com has served more than 7.5 million orders.

The company's app is currently top-ranked in the GCC for the iOS food and drink category and has a 4.6 rating on Android, exceeding one million downloads.

"We are honoured to have received recognition for our mobile business and commerce services from such an esteemed organisation," Talabat.com chief executive Mohammed Nabil Jaffar said.

"This global award is a testament to our success and growth across the Gulf region, which we hope to continue to build upon. At Talabat.com, we strive to become the primary digital food delivery service in each of the markets we operate in."

In addition, Talabat.com has been supporting local restaurants in Bahrain. The user-friendly app and website have played a great role in empowering small and medium business in the food industry by allowing them to reach a wider market than would be possible for them on their own. In 2014, Talabat.com has achieved 125 per cent growth in restaurant sales through its portals and applications for partner restaurants.

"We are very pleased that we are set to exceed our targets for 2014 by achieving 140 per cent growth in orders, and 128 per cent growth of new registrations.
