Two missing Emiratis rescued from the desert
ABU DHABI, UAE, September 3, 2014
A search and rescue helicopter at Sharjah Air Wing Section found two young Emiratis who had gone missing after their vehicle had broken down in the desert sands of the central region of Sharjah.
The Sharjah Air Wing Section, an affiliate of the Ministry of Interior, was tipped off by the Sharjah Police Operations Room about a four-wheel drive vehicle that was stuck in the desert in Al Faya.
Col Pilot Khalifa Abdullah Al Khatri, acting chief of Sharjah Air Wing Section, said: “The air emergency team took off immediately after receiving the report. The team discovered that both Emiratis were in a state of severe fatigue and extreme thirst. They were then moved to the helicopter, where they received first-aid onsite.”
Col Pilot Al Khatri urged the public to use navigational devices available in the local markets if they plan to take trips into the wilderness with their vehicles.
These devices will facilitate the rescue team to locate those that need help in case of an accident or malfunction. – TradeArabia News Service
