Interpol hunt on for Bahraini fraudster
Manama, August 6, 2014
Bahrain’s Public Prosecution has issued an arrest warrant through Interpol for a Bahraini investor who has been accused of fraud in multiple cases.
Under the warrant, the suspect who runs a restaurant chain in Bahrain must be extradited to the kingdom, said a report in the Gulf Daily News (GDN), our sister publication.
The Lower Criminal Court sentenced him in absentia to one month in jail on May 5 after he was convicted of issuing a cheque without having a bank account.
He is believed to have fled the country after more fraud cases surfaced. The number of victims has been put at 127, which includes a charity fund and a journalist. - TradeArabia News Service
