Bahrain to provide homes with smart electricity meters
Manama, July 22, 2014
Bahrain has planned to provide every home in Bahrain with a smart electricity meter.
Minister of State for Electricity and Water Affairs Dr Abdulhussain Mirza said it will be directly linked to the authority, and will provide accurate reading, reported the Gulf Daily News (GDN), our sister publication.
However, subscribers can also provide the reading over phone.
Dr Mirza said Bahrain is currently producing 4,000 MW of power every month.
“Demand peaked to 3,040 MW in June, while consumption is expected to reach 3,200 MW next month,” he said.
Meanwhile, the authority is co-ordinating efforts with Social Development Ministry to increase the number of needy families registered with it to 15,000 from 10,000, which get BD10 ($26) discount on their monthly bills. - TradeArabia News Service
