Bahrain-Saudi vow to speed up GCC Union

Bahrain and Saudi Arabia have pledged to speed up implementation of the GCC Union to strengthen security amid escalating regional challenges.
 
They also underlined the need to intensify meetings between GCC leaders to strengthen a comprehensive vision for political, economic and security development, said a report in the Gulf Daily News (GDN), our sister publication.
 
This came as His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa held talks with Saudi Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Prince Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud in Jeddah.
 
They discussed ways of bolstering bilateral relations at all levels.
 
The Premier, who led a high-level delegation at the invitation of Prince Salman, said Bahrain will always remember Saudi Arabia's political and economic support.
 
He also briefed the Saudi Crown Prince on the latest developments concerning local issues and Bahrain's efforts to establish strategic relations based on mutual respect.
 
Both leaders stressed the need to further develop the GCC concept amid turmoil and disturbances unfolding in the region, urging to take unified stances when dealing with such a situation.
 
They also underlined the importance of backing trade co-operation between both countries, particularly concerning commercial movement across King Fahad Causeway.
 
They hailed the unique deep-rooted relations bonding leaderships and people in the two countries based on love and common destiny.
 
They reiterated the need to speed up the implementation of GCC Union amid escalating challenges, urging to intensify meetings between GCC leaders for political, economic and security co-ordination.
 
The leaders stressed the need to take steps towards achieving the union and strengthening regional security and stability through a comprehensive vision aiming to safeguard Arab and GCC interests and ward off dangers threatening people's safety and security.
 
The Premier hailed Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud for his supportive stances towards Bahrain.
 
Thanks to his wise policies King Abdullah was able to take GCC and Arab action to new heights and bring Arabs together to defend Arab and Islamic interests worldwide, the Premier said.
 
He later attended a banquet hosted in his honour. - TradeArabia News Service
