New threat to revoke citizenship in Kuwait

Kuwait has ordered its Interior Ministry to review citizenship of people who threaten national security and vowed an “iron fist” policy, in a crackdown following violent protests.
In a string of decisions, taken at a Cabinet meeting chaired by Kuwaiti Prime Minister Shaikh Jaber Al Mubarak Al Hamad Al Sabah, the ministry was ordered to start screening citizenship of people “who undermine the country’s security and stability,” said a report in the Gulf Daily News (GDN), our sister publication.
It also warned of penalties for non-governmental organisations (NGOs) which involve themselves in politics.
The Cabinet assigned Social Affairs and Labour Ministry to address any violations by NGOs and take necessary action. The ministry must also ensure NGOs refrain from instigating chaos and unrest.
Audio-visual media agencies have also been asked to play their part in raising public awareness about shunning violence. - TradeArabia News Service
