Child abuse maid in Bahrain faces new charge

Manama, May 27, 2014

An Indonesian housemaid who was convicted of sexually abusing an eight-year-old Bahraini has appeared in court for allegedly molesting the girl's cousin.

The 27-year-old appeared at the High Criminal Court yesterday, where she pleaded not guilty to molesting the 10-year-old girl in a home in Isa Town, said a report in the Gulf Daily News (GDN), our sister publication.

The girl told her mother about the ordeal three years after she was abused in 2010, read court documents.

The Bahraini, who is now 14, told prosecutors the maid forced her to strip in the kitchen and touched her "private parts".

"I was playing in our garage at home, when the maid came to me and removed my clothes," she said in her statement to prosecutors.

"I was scared and did not know what to do as she put her hand inside my front part for a few seconds.

"She told me not to tell anyone and I kept it to myself for three years before I finally spoke out."

The mother of the other victim told prosecutors the maid admitted to abusing both girls after she confronted her.

"After I found out she abused my girl, I questioned her another time and found out that she had also molested her cousin," she said.

The trial was adjourned until June 17 to appoint a lawyer for the suspect.

The same court convicted her of molestation in February and ordered her deportation after completing her 10-year sentence.

She earlier told prosecutors that "something evil" incited her to molest the girl and that she would never do it again. - TradeArabia News Service
