Bahrain’s HRH Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa has won the International Federation of Business Professional Women (BPW International) Golden Award, which acknowledges the Premier as a 'leader of change and an advocate of women's empowerment'.

This is the first time ever the award has been bestowed on a "leader of change", since the inception of the influential network, reported the Gulf Daily News, our sister publication.

The Premier yesterday received BPW International president Frida Miriklis at Gudaibiya Palace.

She delivered an invitation for him to attend the 28th BPW International Conference, to be held from May 23 to 27 in South Korea.

The Premier will be presented with the award on the sidelines of the conference.

He hailed BPW International's global pivotal role in championing women's empowerment, equality and entrepreneurship.

He affirmed the government's keenness to co-operate with BPW International to further promote the status of Bahraini women.

"Bahrain has gone a long way in empowering women politically, economically and socially," he said.

He paid tribute to women, hailing them as essential partners in the march of development and modernisation.

He commended international organisations which acknowledge Bahrain's development strides in total objectivity and recognising the place it deserves among developed nations.

He also praised the role of the Bahrain Businesswomen's Society in training women entrepreneurs and contributing to national development. – TradeArabia News Service
