Unified Gulf law to protect ozone layer approved
Manama, April 1, 2014
A unified Gulf law to protect the ozone layer has been approved by Bahrain's Shura Council.
The new bill, which will be referred to His Majesty King Hamad, states GCC countries must replace harmful substances with environmentally friendly materials, said a report in the Gulf Daily News (GDN), our sister publication.
It also regulates the import and export of machines and equipment to ensure they do not damage the ozone layer.
Directives to draw up the law were issued by GCC leaders during the December 2012 summit in Bahrain.
Meanwhile, the council also approved the ratification of an amended protocol that complements the air transport agreement between Bahrain and France. - TradeArabia News Service
