Manama, March 12, 2014

The upcoming Bahrain International eGovernment Forum and Bahrain IT Expo 2014  will be the biggest yet with the number of workshops, floor space and speakers, all doubling from the last edition, said the organisers.

The event will be held at the Ritz-Carlton Bahrain, Hotel and Spa and the Bahrain International Circuit from April 21 to 23.

It is being held under the patronage of Deputy Prime Minister and chairman of the Supreme Committee for Information and Communication Technology Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa.

Forty international keynote speakers and experts in the information and communications technology (ICT) sector will be addressing the gathering at the seventh edition of Bahrain International eGovernment Forum next month, reported the Gulf Daily News, our sister publication.

The eGovernment Authority is organising the forum in collaboration with Bahrain Internet Society, Bahrain Society of Engineers and Project Management Institute - Arabian Gulf Chapter (PMI-AGC).

The forum will focus on 10 key themes including: 'Big Data', smart government, future cities and the latest trends in mobile technology, said eGovernment Authority (eGA) chief executive Mohammed Al Qaed.

The latest developments in eGovernment, ICT, as well as exchange of regional and international experience in areas of services and information technology, are expected to be discussed at the event, he added.

The three-day forum opens on April 21, whereas the Bahrain IT Expo 2014 gets underway the next day.

Eight specialised workshops under the supervision of eGA will also be conducted on the second and third day, said the report.

The forum will also feature the announcement of the eGovernment Excellence Awards 2014, with the winners being honoured by Shaikh Mohammed.

A dedicated display area showcasing the winning projects, along with stands of NGOs will be a key feature of the event this year, it added.-TradeArabia News Service
