Bahrain warns against policies that fuel unrest

Manama, January 28, 2014

Bahrain's Premier yesterday warned against policies aimed at fuelling unrest and sowing instability in the kingdom.

"Such destabilisation policies will not stop, hence the need to be on the alert," His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa said as he received citizens, religious and intellectual figures, journalists and businessmen at Gudaibiya Palace, reported the Gulf Daily News (GDN), our sister publication.

"Attempts to lobby foreign parties and secure their backing are tantamount to plots against the country," he said, pointing out that constitutional institutions remain wide open for all to advocate their opinions.

He paid tribute to loyal Bahrainis for standing united to foil plots against their country, thwart seditions and attempts to internationalise the crisis.

"The people of Bahrain have all along their national history thwarted, by their allegiance and alertness, all designs to plunge Bahrain in chaos and crises," he said, describing loyal citizens as a source of power for their country.

"I am lucky for having been constantly close to the Bahraini people, who have always rallied together and proved their loyalty to the homeland in all situations, especially in times of adversity," he said.

The Premier affirmed that Bahrain has always embraced those who seek national interests, and whoever seeks to sow sectarian divide among its citizens will certainly fail because it is an oasis of co-existence, tolerance and acceptance of the other, the same solid principles that have safeguarded the country from all attempts to shake its national unity. - TradeArabia News Service
