Bahrain plans 40 new e-services every year

Manama, January 21, 2014

The Bahrain eGovernment Authority (eGA) plans to launch 40 new eServices annually in line with its plans to proactively cater to the needs of customers and businesses, said a top official.

Announcing this at a press conference, eGA chief executive Mohammed Ali Al Qaed said all services will be consistently defined, named and managed through an online services factbook,  reported the Gulf Daily News, our sister publication.

"It is planned that 40 new eServices will be deployed annually, and all government service information will be made available online, with a view to ensuring an annual growth in uptake of online transaction based services by 10 per cent," he added.

The eGA announced that it had succeeded last year in achieving 91.3 per cent of the annual indices set in the eGA National Strategy 2016.

The kingdom will enhance user experience through best-in-class eGovernment access channels to effectively steer and improve customers' service usage.

By 2014, three eGovernment channels will be significantly upgraded by way of facilitating usage and adding features to enhance the customer experience. Through these channels, 10 per cent of all transaction-based services will have an uptake of 100 per cent.

Ten new government mobile apps for the top three mobile application stores will be launched annually, ensuring that an array of government services are available to individuals at all times, the official said.

The customer service experience will be a constant focus, driven by a tiered award programme for government entities.

"Three eGov related projects will be seed funded at BD20,000 ($52,793) per project annually," eGA vice chief executive Dr Zakareya Ahmed Al Khaja told the Press conference.-TradeArabia News Service
