Forum set to focus on Gulf NRI issues
Manama, January 6, 2014
The problems faced by Indians living in the Gulf will be highlighted at a major conference this week.
More than 2,000 non-resident Indians (NRIs) from over 60 countries, including Bahrain, will attend the 12th annual Pravasi Bharatiya Divas which opens in New Delhi from tomorrow (January 7) until Thursday, reported the Gulf Daily News, our sister publication.
This year's theme is 'Engaging Diaspora: Connecting Across Generations' and will feature sessions on issues of NRIs in the Gulf, innovation and technology, healthcare opportunities in India and making India the hub of media and entertainment industry.
Other sessions will include discussions on aspirations of the diaspora youth, sharing a common heritage: the emotional connection, young achievers and emerging India in a dynamically changing world.
The event, organised by the Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs, will be inaugurated by Indian Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and President Pranab Mukherjee will deliver the valedictory address on January 9.
The president will also present the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Awards for this year to distinguished NRIs and persons of Indian origin.-TradeArabia News Service
