Qatar denies Syria 'contact'

Doha, December 5, 2013

Qatar has stressed it has had no direct or indirect contact with Syria's regime, as the head of Lebanon's pro-Syria Hizbollah movement said he had received an envoy from Doha.

"Qatar does not have any direct or indirect contacts with the Syrian regime," said the foreign ministry in a statement, stressing support for the armed opposition, said a report in the Gulf Daily News (GDN), our sister publication.

Doha's "sole link is with the legitimate representative of the (Syrian) people, which is the National Coalition," it said in the statement carried by QNA state news agency.
