Bahrain, China to expand relations

Historic relations between Bahrain and China were lauded in a joint statement by the two countries last night (September 16) as both sides expressed their readiness to enhance relations to serve the common interests of both countries.
On the occasion of His Majesty King Hamad's visit to China, both sides affirmed that they are important partners as they appreciated development of friendly ties since the exchange of the diplomatic relations 25 years ago, reported the Gulf Daily News, our sister publication.
They agreed that support for each other on vital issues represents the values of honest friendship.
Bahrain vowed to support China's efforts in uniting its people, while China reaffirmed its respect for Bahrain's sovereignty and rejected any external interference in the kingdom's internal affairs.
China also supported Bahrain's efforts in maintaining its national stability as it supports moves to establish a region free of weapons of mass destruction.
The countries agreed to enhance co-operation in economics, commerce, infrastructure, finance, culture, tourism, education, health, media and sports.
Bahrain and China also pledged to continue close co-operation on international and regional issues, and strengthen co-ordination in the UN and other international bodies to protect the rights and interests of developing countries.
They expressed satisfaction at the advanced level of relations between China and the GCC in recent years.
Bahrain, as the current chairman of the GCC, is ready to make efforts to bolster co-operation between China and the GCC to new levels.
The leaders also stressed the need to hold a strategic dialogue between China and the GCC.
Bahrain and China also pledged to play an important role in the Gulf and the Middle East in maintaining peace and stability in line with the common interests of countries in the region and the international community as a whole.
They emphasised the need to find a just and equitable solution to regional issues and achieve long-lasting security and stability through peaceful dialogue and consultation.
During His Majesty's visit, the two sides signed a number of co-operation agreements in the fields of culture, health, finance, energy, taxation and education.
China also promised to include Bahrain in the list of tourist destinations for its citizens.
They expressed satisfaction with the outcome of His Majesty's visit to China, and stressed its importance to enhance friendly relations between the two countries.
His Majesty expressed his thanks and appreciation for the reception and hospitality he received during his visit, and extended an invitation to Chinese President Xi Jinping to visit Bahrain. The President expressed his thanks for the invitation. – TradeArabia News Service
