His Majesty King Hamad
Bahrain backs Egypt leaders
Cairo, September 3, 2013
Bahrain yesterday (September 2) affirmed its support to Egypt in its efforts to secure further progress and stability, a report said.
The solidarity was declared in a letter written by His Majesty King Hamad to Egyptian President Adli Mansour, which was delivered by Foreign Affairs Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed Al Khalifa at the presidential headquarters in Cairo, reported the Gulf Daily News, our sister publication.
His Majesty wrote that Bahrain hopes the situation in Egypt is resolved according to the people's aspirations, so that it becomes a fine example of tolerance between its components.
He expressed his confidence in the capability of the Egyptian leadership to overcome current challenges.
President Mansour, meanwhile, praised the kingdom's support and asked Shaikh Khalid to convey his greetings to the leadership.
Shaikh Khalid also met Grand Imam of Al Azhar Dr Ahmed Al Tayeb and pledged Bahrain's support.
Delivering wishes from the leadership, the Foreign Minister hailed the wisdom of the Grand Imam and scholars at Al Azhar.
He said Al Azhar played a major role in maintaining the unity of Egyptians, and hailed its contribution to bolstering the country's security.
"What harms Al Azhar, harms us all," he affirmed.
The Grand Imam expressed his gratitude for Bahrain's stance and described it as an example of the depth of ties between the two nations.
Moreover, Shaikh Khalid held a meeting with his Egyptian counterpart Nabil Fahmy.
Bilateral co-operation, fraternal ties and means of increasing joint action were among the key topics discussed.
It also included discussions on the outcome of the Arab League's meeting on Syria and the Middle East peace process.
The meeting was followed by a joint Press conference, where Shaikh Khalid reiterated Bahrain's support to Egypt in its efforts to combat violence and extremism, in line with the duty and rights of Egyptians - as well as an internal issue that should not be interfered with.
He said that Bahrain's leadership is standing side by side with the Egyptian government while it peacefully overcomes the current critical phase.
He also said a decision to activate the Bahraini-Egyptian Committee was taken, which will hold its next meeting in Cairo later on.
Furthermore, on the sidelines of the Arab League meeting, Shaikh Khalid told Bahrain Television that the Arab League meeting ensured that His Majesty's proposal for an Arab Court for Human Rights is set to materialise.
He said that such a judicial authority in the region is essential to reinforce the culture of human rights, protect them and find ways to preserve them.
He affirmed that Arab League members were not warmongers and marked his support for its decision on Syria. – TradeArabia News Service
