Dubai, May 26, 2013
Dubai eGovernment has won two awards for its mDubai mobile app and for its ePay gateway at a ceremony held by Terrapin at Cards & Payments Middle East 2013 and The Mobile Show 2013 recently.
Both awards were received by Sumaia Bin Hammad, director of Communication and Business Development (CBD) on behalf of Dubai eGovernment.
Ahmad Bin Humaidan, director-general, Dubai eGovernment said: “The awards clearly indicate our favourable pace of eTransformation in Dubai as traditional government services shift towards eServices, particularly on mobile phones.”
“Our award winning ePay gateway allows both corporate and individual customers to pay online for over 250 government services through credit cards, and direct debit from five leading banks.
“Recently, we signed an MoU with the Ministry of Finance for the eDirham G2 card to be used as a tool for collection of government fees. We are also focused on mobile payment and apps. We recently launched our mDubai app, and are pleased that it won the award for the best government app,” he added.
The ePay gateway is part of the Dubai eGovernment's initiative, which aims at providing government services through innovative channels in order to ease the lives of people and businesses interacting with the Government in Dubai.
Online payment of fees ensures time and money saved in addition to avoiding the inconvenience of having to personally visit a department or bank. The ePay gateway is integrated with all the departments' eServices, no matter what technologies and software they use, thanks to its compatibility with all means of online payment such as the Internet, kiosks, IVR, credit cards, direct debit and the eDirham G2 card.
At Cards & Middle East & The Mobile Show 2013, Dubai eGovernment showcased its ePay gateway with a workshop lecture entitled ‘DeG ePayment initiative smart integration workshop’, while the ePay and mDubai app were also showcased through a presentation called ‘Together to ease your life – improving the lives of people and businesses in Dubai through mobile.’
The mDubai iPhone app offers an array of services of concern to customers with Dubai government departments and entities including enquiry about prayer timings and eComplaint submission and tracking in addition to a dedicated section that helps customers be familiar with government departments and their contact details and real-time updates on news and events in Dubai Government. – TradeArabia News Service
