HRH the Premier

Bahrain brands Lebanese group ‘terrorist’

Manama, April 8, 2013

Bahrain’s Cabinet has approved parliament's proposal to brand Lebanese militant group Hizbollah a "terrorist organisation".

HRH Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa has referred the proposal to the Interior and Foreign ministries to prepare legal mechanisms for implementation in co-ordination with the National Assembly, according to a report in our sister publication, the Gulf Daily News.

The Premier chaired the session at Gudaibiya Palace in the presence of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier.

The Premier praised parliament's efforts to protect Bahrain from foreign interference, especially from terrorist organisations, which are not just targeting Bahrain, but the GCC as a whole.

Hizbollah, which has supporters in Bahrain, is already considered a terrorist group by countries such as the US, UK, Canada, Australia and the Netherlands. – TradeArabia News Service
