Bahrain set to accept Gulf ID cards

Manama, March 10, 2013

Bahrain will start accepting identity (ID) cards of Gulf nationals for all the transactions from the middle of the month, said a top official.

Central Informatics Organisation president Dr Mohammed Al Amer said the move will contribute to alleviating efforts and time of Gulf citizens during their travel in the GCC states, or when they need to deal with matters in public or private sectors, according to a report in our sister publication, the Gulf Daily News.

Dr Al Amer said Bahrain has taken the initiative to implement the system in its transactions in line with the kingdom's approach towards the e-government and providing more services, including facilitating electronic transactions. – TradeArabia News Service
