Kuwait 'mulls income tax on expats'
Kuwait, March 7, 2013
Kuwait's Ministry of Finance has started the process of implementing a taxation system for foreign residents in the country, reports said.
Once the system is implemented, expatriates in Kuwait will be required to pay tax on their incomes and remittances, a report in Arab Times citing Al-Kuwaitiah daily, said.
Sources quoted by the reports said the ministry also intends to lay down a mechanism for limiting foreign remittances by prohibiting expatriates from remitting more than the monthly salary mentioned in their files at the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor.
