GCC citizens who seek medical treatment in Thailand can stay there without a visa for 90 days starting tomorrow, a report said.

The new rule will allow GCC citizens to visit the country along with three companions, including housemaids, but only if legitimate medical documents are provided, according to the report in our sister publication, the Gulf daily News.

A Thai Embassy spokesman said the regulation was implemented by the Royal Thai government to facilitate GCC patients, who require longer medical treatment in Thailand.

"The new regulation also allows a patient to have not more than three individuals of the GCC nations (including parents, children, spouse or maid), accompanying him/her to stay in Thailand for 90 days without visa," he added.

Patients should have an official medical appointment issued by a certified health institution in Thailand along with supporting documents such as health insurance and financial statements issued by the respective country.

Companions should submit a copy of their relationship with the patients, employment contract if it is a maid and an affidavit of support prepared by a Thai hospital. – TradeArabia News Service
