HRH the Premier

Bahrain extends expat worker fee freeze

Manama, December 10, 2012

A freeze on fees levied by Bahrain's Labour Market Regulatory Authority on foreign workers has been extended until June 30 next year on orders issued by Bahrain’s HRH Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa.

Chairing the weekly Cabinet meeting, the Premier ordered the six-month reprieve to help small and medium enterprises and stimulate the national economy, according to a report in our sister publication, the Gulf Daily News.

The 27-month freeze was first enforced in April last year as the country was emerging from the February-March unrest. – TradeArabia News Service
