Etiquette classes a big hit in Dubai

Finishing Touch, Dubai’s leading etiquette school, said its inspiring and informative workshops on table settings and culinary etiquette are proving to be popular among visitors flocking to Burjuman shopping centre for the 'Treat - World Food Fest 2012.' 

From picking out the appropriate cutlery to creative ways to dress up the dining table and tips to play the perfect host and guest, Finishing Touch  – supported by lifestyle stores Villeroy & Boch and The One – has been dishing out practical advice to visitors at ‘Treat’ in a series of daily ‘Table Setting & Culinary Etiquette’ workshops taking place until September 17.
 
With a series of free masterclasses, cooking demos, dining etiquette workshops, audience competitions, exciting rewards and delicious free sampling, Treat has been offering a wonderful interactive opportunity to dining enthusiasts, aspiring chefs, families and  foodies to learn about different aspects of fine dining at no cost at all.
 
The past four days have seen workshop participants learn the creative art of plate setting, choosing table clothes and cutlery, napkin folding and the proper etiquette to attending a cocktail or tea party.
 
On the agenda for the next two days will be presentations and tips on formal dining, creative ways of using fruit & vegetables for decorations, quick table dressing as well as the creation of gorgeous centrepieces, said the organisers. 
 
Visitors have also continued to flock to the masterclasses and cooking demos by chefs from leading Dubai hotels such as the Dubai Marriott Group and Dusit Thani.
 
Chef Francesco and Chef Furtunato Leocata, Italian Chefs of Dubai Marriott Hotels served up a delicious selection of Italian dishes, including Costoletta alla Milanese con Patate, Butternut Squash Risotto with Crab Meat & Chives, Rigatoni Quattro Formaggi and Fresh Home-made Ravioli Stuffed with Gorgonzola and Walnuts. 
 
Junior Sous Chef Bossaporn and Pastry Chef Muhammed Haji Ali from Dusit Thani presented a selection of Thai favourites such as Tom Yum Goong and Thai Green Curry alongside delicious desserts such as Pistachio Financier and Blueberry Cheesecake. 
 
Treat runs until September 22, concluding with the BurJuman Junior Chef 2012 competition. Besides the visitors also have a chance to win a hamper of Dh25,000 worth of mouth-watering goodies, dining vouchers and more.-TradeArabia News Service
