His Majesty King Hamad performed Eid Al Fitr prayers at Sakhir Palace Mosque in Bahrain and later exchanged greetings with worshippers, wishing the kingdom and its people a happy Eid Al Fitr.

His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander, the King's sons, senior Ruling Family members, Shura Council chairman Ali Saleh Al Saleh, parliament chairman Khalifa Al Dhahrani, ministers, senior officials, and senior BDF, Interior Ministry and National Guard officers also took part.

The imam delivered a sermon, praying Allah Almighty to protect Bahrain, its wise leadership and loyal people, and bless the kingdom with further progress and prosperity.

The worshippers extended their heartfelt congratulations and good wishes to His Majesty, praying Allah to protect him and guide him on the path of success.

They also took pride in His Majesty's wise leadership and his far-sighted path to promote Bahrain's status and bolster its pivotal regional, Arab and international role.

His Majesty, His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa and HRH the Crown Prince also exchanged more greetings with leaders of Arab and Islamic countries.

On Sunday, thousands of worshippers converged on the Al Fateh Grand Mosque, Juffair, and other places to offer prayers on the first day of Eid.

Prayers started early in the morning with traditional fervour and a virtual sea of humanity visible at all places. Prayers were held in Riffa, Manama, Muharraq and Isa Town as well.

In Hoora, the Al Ansar Centre conducted prayers in the open grounds near Ashrafs, where visiting preacher Sameer Munderi led a congregation of around 1,500 people.

The organisation also conducted prayers in Muharraq, Riffa and Hamad Town, where thousands took part.

The Al Ansar Centre is a non-profit Islamic organisation run under the patronage of Muslim Educational Society, which organizes Eid prayers in open grounds in various locations in Bahrain.

After the prayers, thousands of people, among them scores of expatriates and non-Muslims, visited the Al Fateh Mosque.-TradeArabia News Service
