New strategy to end Bahrain crisis

Manama, June 9, 2012

A new strategy to end Bahrain's crisis has been put forward by a political society that was formed to give a voice to those not aligned with anti-government protests.

The National Unity Assembly yesterday said it was necessary for political and religious leaders along with heads of societies from all parties to take the initiative in this regard and all acts of violence must be stopped and condemned.

The solution must, in no way, be at the expense of the country or people or security, said its president Dr Abdullatif Al Mahmood.

"Law must be implemented without taking sides of any particular party and vandals and plotters against their country and citizens must not be rewarded," he noted.

However, authorities must make sure no one gets punished for expressing their political opinions, said Al Mahmood.

He also called upon all parties to recognise each other's right to participate in the country's affairs. "The solution must be in the hands of Bahrainis and not in foreign hands," he added.-TradeArabia News Service
