New rules to regulate street vendors across the kingdom will be issued soon, said Municipalities and Urban Planning Affairs Minister Dr Juma Al Ka’abi.

Under the new regulations, peddling activities must be limited to Bahrainis who are fit and healthy and legally competent. Also, they must not be government or private sector employees or holders of commercial registration.

Street peddlers are not allowed to sell milk and by-products as well as fireworks, said the Minister.

They are banned from selling their wares inside parks, ministries, government institutions, public organisations and near traffic signals.

Harassing the public or using car horns or any other means likely to cause inconvenience to people are also prohibited, he added. Licence issuance or renewal fee is BD5 ($13.3) and must be renewed yearly.-TradeArabia News Service
