Bahrain expert in global security event

Manama, May 8, 2012

Bahrain’s General Organisation of Sea Ports (GOP) announced that one of its senior staff participated in a security session of the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) held recently in the US.

Rashid Khalil, security affairs officer at GOP, was invited by the US Department of State to participate in the International Security Issues session.

The multi-regional project provided an understanding of US foreign policy as it intersects with the nation’s security interests, and is designed for international security specialists, foreign policy analysts and decision makers engaged in national, regional and global security issues.

Participants examined the US policymaking process and the various viewpoints that contribute to the development and implementation of security policy.

Hassan Ali Al Majed, director general of GOP said: “We are proud that Rashid Khalil has been nominated for this prestigious leadership program, as it is a reflection of the exceptional leadership skills, commitment and dedication he demonstrates at GOP.”

“The personal and professional experience gained from IVLP will help Rashid in understanding the US foreign policy as it intersects with Bahrain’s security issues and will further contribute to the development and implementation of enhanced security policies within the Kingdom,” he added.
