Mena Aerospace, US firm sign deal

Manama, January 19, 2012

Bahrain-based Mena Aerospace Enterprises has entered into a strategic alliance agreement with US-based North American Surveillance Systems (Nass).

The agreement provides the basis for the companies to deliver services related to the integration of specialised airborne components and subsystems necessary to convert conventional rotary and fixed-wing aircraft into special mission aircraft tailored for search and rescue as well as law enforcement applications, said a statement.

The announcement regarding the deal was made at the second Bahrain International Air Show, which opened today.

This includes augmenting and reengineering existing aircraft systems in order to adapt these aircraft for specialized missions. Furthermore, the alliance’s capabilities include initial certification of the aircraft and providing follow on testing. The alliance also provides operational support and services for the complete spectrum of airborne operation profiles, it said.

David Ayotte, Nass’ vice president, sales & marketing, said: "With recent successful joint projects here in the Kingdom of Bahrain, we are looking forward to offering expanded capabilities through the excellent relationship with Mena Aerospace."

Mena Aerospace CEO, Ralph Eisenschmid, said: “It is an honour to be working with a company like Nass. We are convinced that the region requires these unique services, and for this reason our immediate-term focus will be to expand the services offering throughout the Middle East and North Africa.” - TradeArabia News Service
