Green construction focus for seminar
Manama, December 25, 2011
Eco-friendly construction will be the focus for an upcoming technical seminar in Bahrain.
The Bahrain chapter of the Institution of Engineers Pakistan (IEP-BC), in association with the Bahrain Society of Engineers (BSE), is organising the seminar on promoting green construction on Tuesday.
The event, at the BSE auditorium in Juffair, will include two presentations - Construction and the Environment by Public Commission for the Protection of Marine Resources, Environment and Wildlife waste disposal unit head Rehan Ahmed and Green Construction and International Federation of Consulting Engineers by Trowers & Hamlins construction manager Paula Boast.
"The construction industry plays a major role in improving the quality of the built environment, but it also impacts the local resources and environment on the wider scale," said Ahmed.
"Building and construction activities consume major quantities of raw materials and precious resources. Judiciously utilising the finite resources and considering 'green construction' and 'green building materials and products' can promote conservation of our dwindling non-renewable resources."
He said the seminar will focus on the importance and promotion of 'green construction' and its applicability in Bahrain.
While entrance to the seminar is free, pre-registration is necessary. – TradeArabia News Service
