Entrepreneurship week launched

Manama, November 15, 2011

Young Arab Leaders (YAL) Bahrain last night launched its Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) series with a networking dinner at the Capital Club in Bahrain Financial Harbour, Manama.

More than 60 budding Bahraini entrepreneurs took part in the ‘Mentorship Madness’ event, where they were given the chance to meet and interact with 11 successful business brains. Muharraqi Studios founder and chief creator Khalid Al Muharraqi, FinMark Communications managing director Zahra Taher, and The Mobile Spa managing partner Deena Al Ansari were among those who took on the role of mentor for the evening.

The informal, roundtable setting provided participants the chance to learn about the processes involved in opening a business from the mentors’ own personal experiences, said organisers.

The GEW series continues today (November 15) with a special workshop focused on turning peoples’ talents into potential careers at the Obai and Hill offices at the Bahrain Financial Harbour between 4pm and 8pm.

This will be a crash course for young artists focused on how to make a profitable business from their natural talents, said organisers.

Emphasis will be placed on branding, marketing and networking, both locally and regionally, they added.

Other events planned for this week are a ‘Start-up Circuit’ at the Sheraton Bahrain Hotel in Manama tomorrow at 6pm and an interactive presentation by Talal Abu Ghazaleh Organisation chairman and founder Talal Abu Ghazaleh on Thursday.

Global Entrepreneurship Week is being recognised in more than 120 countries worldwide. This is the third successive year that YAL Bahrain has organised events in Bahrain, which fall in line with the group’s aim to create a culture of entrepreneurship in the Arab world.

The programme is expected to help shed light on local business success stories and connect aspiring business owners with potential mentors. – TradeArabia News Service
