Al Jazeera starts live sport streaming service

Al Jazeera Sport channel said it has launched the world's most advanced live sport streaming service offering over 13,000 live events to mark the channel’s 8th anniversary.
The Qatar-based channel said the new aljazeerasport.tv service will make all of its sports channels as well as its entire comprehensive rights portfolio available over internet and mobile services.
It will stream all Al-Jazeera Sports Channels’ content 24/7, in addition to thousands of events unavailable on the channels, will be available through this service on demand, the channel said in a statement.
The service being launched today (November 1) over the web and as an iPad application will see sports fans in the region given a free months trial to celebrate Al Jazeera Sports’ 8th birthday.
Nasser Bin Ghanem al Khelaifi, general manager of Al Jazeera Sport said, 'Al Jazeera Sport has built the most extensive set of sports channels in the world and we are pleased to take our service to another level with the launch of the new service.'
'Digital is expanding rapidly across the Mena region and throughout the world and these platforms will allow sports fans to watch every match we own, whenever and wherever they want.'
'We are delighted to make these services available on a free basis for the first month to celebrate the birthday of Al Jazeera Sport,' he remarked.
'After the one-month free period, the service will cost $50 a year or $10 a month which users can subscribe to online, over their mobile or later this year, in cash via a scratch card redemption scheme being rolled out across the Al Jazeera dealer network.'
'Mobile applications optimized for iPhone, Android, Blackberry and Nokia will also be available,' he added.-TradeArabia News Service
