Bahrain vows swift response to probe report
Manama, October 18, 2011
His Majesty King Hamad will receive Bahrain Independent Commission of Inquiry (BICI) report on October 30, said Information Affairs Authority president Shaikh Fawaz bin Mohammed Al Khalifa.
He said significant preparations will be made for the event. His Majesty will deliver a speech and BICI chairman Professor Mahmoud Cherif Bassiouni will also speak.
The government's response to the report's findings will be broadcast immediately after receiving it, said Shaikh Fawaz.
Meanwhile, Shaikh Fawaz unveiled plans to build a media city in Bahrain.
Preparations are also in full swing to launch a new TV channel on the Hotbird satellite, operated by Eutelsat, he told local journalists.
The Bahrain International Channel will cover large swathes of the world, in addition to the Arab region and the Middle East.
'The new channel will be launched officially within the next few weeks as part of IAA's efforts to project the truth abroad and debunk fallacies and lies,' Shaikh Fawaz said.
He described the state-of-the-art media city as the embodiment of His Majesty's vision regarding media openness.
'The planned scheme represents an opportunity for the private sector to invest in the media field,' he said. - TradeArabia News Service
