Emirates date palm fest backs Adihex
Abu Dhabi, September 13, 2011
Emirates International Date Palm Festival (EIDPF), an event that celebrates and fosters the UAE culture, tradition and heritage of the date fruit, will have a major presence at the upcoming Abu Dhabi International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition (Adihex).
Adihex will be held in Abu Dhabi from September 14 – 17.
Mohamed Jalal Al Reyaysa, chairman of the Higher Organizing Committee for the EIDPF and the official spokesperson for Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority, said: “For us, participation at this significant exhibition is important because it is essentially about the rich heritage and culture of the UAE and region.'
'Hunting and horsemanship are integral aspects of the traditional culture; so are dates and date palms,' Al Reyaysa remarked.
'All these are a part and parcel of our historical legacy and they continue to remain so even to this day. Exhibitions such as these will play a vital role in acquainting the newer generations with the essential elements of their heritage and culture,' he added.
Qaboos Khalid, event director of the festival, Turret Media, said the date festival has evolved with a special focus on raising awareness of the UAE’s cultural traditions.
'Therefore, Adihex provides the perfect participation platform as it explores the rich and beautiful traditions of the UAE,' he noted.
According to Khalid, visitors to the EIDPF stand at Adihex will have a unique chance to be a part of an exciting ‘Win A Mystery Prize’ raffle draw.
'Contestants can fill a raffle coupon at the festival booth with the winner being announced at the EIDPF in November.'
The Emirates date palm festival will take place from November 21 to 26, transforming Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Centre into a palm oasis with more than 200 exhibitors from 17 countries, four national pavilions, and six incredible featured events.
Date manufacturers and processors will join forces to stage a remarkable display of 400 date varieties from the UAE and other countries.-TradeArabia News Service
