Project Village dates set

Abu Dhabi, August 23, 2011

More than 40 projects from India, Middle East and North Africa will be showcased at the Project Village event, being held along side the World Future Energy Summit 2011 in Abu Dhabi.

Project Village, scheduled for January 16-19, 2012, will be a meeting point for project developers, technology suppliers and investors in the industry.

The event has proved to be an excellent platform for sourcing cutting edge technologies from suppliers and discussing business and investment opportunities with experts from the finance arena, a statement said.

The GCC region is currently relying on traditional energy production and, following a healthy population and economical growth, it will require an investment of $130 billion to increase power generation, transmission and distribution networks over the next few years, it said.

However, along traditional energy sources, the countries are also rapidly developing renewable energy networks.

A good example is the UAE where, as estimated by the UAE ministry of economy, the private sector will have the opportunity to invest around $100 billion in UAE-based alternative and sustainable energy projects by 2020.

Qatar is also set to spend $125 billion on new energy projects in the coming years.

The event will introduce projects of various sizes to investors. – TradeArabia News Service
