Jordan's Queen Rania Center for Entrepreneurship (QRCE) has started receiving applications for the International Entrepreneurship Photo Contest “Reach for your stars”.

The contest is being held in cooperation with the Royal Jordanian Film Commission, Jordan Photographic Society.

Coinciding with the Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) 2011, the photography contest focuses on depicting aspects and activities related to entrepreneurship, to demonstrate its various concepts and raise more awareness.

It aims at discovering the talents of young people, encouraging them to unleash their potential as well as developing entrepreneurship in Jordan by opening the door for creativity, leadership and innovative ideas through the lens of a photographer.
 
Farhan Kalaldeh, QRCE executive director, said: “We hope that this contest will fulfill its goals by helping young people develop their talent and promote their creative skills and interest in entrepreneurship. The local committees will be accepting applications starting from August 15 till September 20.”

Stressing on QRCE’s commitment to participate in the international entrepreneurial initiatives and competitions to build a creative generation capable of causing positive change, Kalaldeh added that non-winners will be awarded with certifications of merit and also enrolled in photography training courses to promote their creative skills.

The contest targets young people between the ages of 14 and 30. The jury, which includes photographer Zohrab Markarian, Jordan Photographic Society president Suqrat Kahoush, and George David from the Royal Jordanian Film Commission, will be responsible for reviewing and evaluating the photos.

There will be three winners, who will travel to Berlin and compete internationally in October. 

Mohammad Obaidat, QRCE Networking Program Leader, said that the contest is part of the preparations to host the third round of GEW.

Governmental organizations, academic establishments, and non-profit organizations participate in the GEW to engage students, educators, entrepreneurs, business leaders, and others to assist them in adopting a culture of entrepreneurship and employ it to serve society.

GEW is a global event organised in more than 100 countries around the world in the same week in November. – TradeArabia News Service
