New blog to promote key Bahrain facets

Manama, August 15, 2011

A blog dedicated to promoting Bahrain's economic, tourism and cultural facets has been launched, which will also aim to project a bright image of the kingdom in the aftermath of the recent crisis.

Welcome to Bahrain is the brainchild of Bahraini Amal Al Marzook and is also dedicated to countering attempts aimed at defaming the kingdom's reputation abroad.

"I have launched the blog to project Bahrain's bright image, reporting different activities, events and places I visit," Al Marzook said.

She said she thought of using modern technology to project a positive image of Bahrain to citizens, expatriates and tourists.

The blog, in Arabic and English, spotlights various facets of Bahrain, including economy, trade, restaurants, cafes, shopping malls, tourist places, and cultural, literary and artistic events.

The blog is named after the book Welcome to Bahrain by the son of British adviser to Bahrain James Hamed Dacre Belgrave.

A media and public relations graduate, Al Marzook started blogging in 2006. She presented an academic paper in 2009 on Bahraini blogging journalists. She also took part in a series of specialised blogging activities online. – TradeArabia News Service
